The New South Wales Teacher Education Council

The New South Wales Teacher Education Council is the association of the deans of education and heads of schools of education in universities and other higher education institutions in New South Wales. It was established to promote the continued development of teacher education and meets regularly to further its goals and discuss issues of common interest.

In order to reach its goals the Council:

provides a forum in which Deans of Teacher Education meet to share information about teacher education,
organizes an annual conference for its members,
facilitates collaboration in teacher education,
encourages and supports research in teacher education,
establishes mechanisms for monitoring the quality and status of teacher education in New South Wales,
debates teacher education issues of policy and administration,
provides independent professional comment and advice to Government and other agencies on issues in teacher education,
provides an informed public voice on matters associated with teacher education,
affiliates with other organisations who have interests in teacher education.
